Welcome!

I'd like to start this off by saying welcome to all of the artists involved in this exchange. We will be seeing a lot of each other in another week or so but I encourage you all to use this Blog on a daily basis to jot down your experiences, thoughts and ideas not only during the course of the week long residency but also your time taking in the Magnetic North Industry series. It will go a long way towards ensuring that this experience is remembered and built upon in a constructive way.

Was amazing to spend the first week of our residency in Vancouver being inspired by the Magnetic North Festival and the PACT/Compass Points series. Was fun to meet so many interesting artists and theatre-goers and The Hive2 was definitely a highlight, what an incredible project! Enjoying our day off on this sunny Vancouver Sunday and getting excited to explore material for "I'm So Close..." Looking forward to hanging out more with The Theatre Centre/Rumble/Chop folks and to getting into the room tomorrow.

Had our first day working in The Playwright's Theatre Center space...was a fury of butcher paper, magic markers, note cards and scotch tape. We've got loads of articles, books, video, images and music to feed on...Dug into Stephen Hawkings and came up with lots and lots and lots and lots of questions. How did everything come from such a small point, this dance of tiny particles? For now, we'll sleep with these questions and see what our dreams may bring.

It was great to meet everyone last week who is involved in this project. It was exciting to see The Chop and Why Not Theatre encouraging, questioning and challenging each other. It made me think that all projects (whether involving emerging companies or not) could benefit from such an arrangement! Anita told me enthusiastically yesterday how nice it is to have the time and the space to focus on their project. I look forward to seeing how things develop!

Hi everyone,
It was great meeting the women behind the CHOP last week. It seems like the two groups have a great energy and I'm looking forward to reading more about your process.

Have a great week!
